In 2020, they made a bold commitment and detailed plan to become a carbon negative, water positive, and zero waste company that protects more land than it uses by 2030 and by 2050, they plan to remove all of the carbon from the environment that the company has emitted either directly or by electrical consumption since it was founded in 1975

Leverage more renewable energy with Windows 11
Starting with Windows 11, version 22H2, Windows Update is now carbon aware*, making it easier for your devices to reduce carbon emissions.
When devices are plugged in, turned on, connected to the internet and where regional carbon intensity data is available, Windows Update will schedule installations at specific times of the day (when doing so may result in lower-carbon emissions because a higher proportion of electricity is coming from lower-carbon sources on the electric grid).
Want to update immediately? No problem! You can always bypass this function and choose to install updates immediately on the Windows Update page in Settings.
