Challenges
Mirvac was facing a number of issues which their internal IT team required assistance with.
- A shortage of equipment including laptops. There was no stock on hand for new employees and no buffer stock. Furthermore, their current provider was unable to deliver stock on time.
- When equipment was ordered, reconciling the costs to the correct business unit and managing support requirements for the equipment was challenging to accomplish.
- Software licensing were up for renewal, and they were unsure whether their current software met their needs effectively. There was also new software on the market and wanted to consider other more suitable and cost-effective options.
- Legacy equipment previously went to e-Waste however Mirvac wanted to investigate more sustainable and innovative ways.
Note: Mirvac has Group Procurement guidelines in place allowing them to use a panel of approved suppliers, request three quotes or go to tender based on the value of the scope. Virtu is on Mirvac’s panel of preferred IT suppliers.
Solution
A range of services and solutions were recommended and implemented.
Stock Allocation
Device and equipment needs were audited based on end user requirements. Then stock was selected, purchased, and delivered to Mirvac in a timely manner.
Purchasing Portal
A purchasing portal was set up allowing appropriate Mirvac staff to order devices and equipment based on their business unit needs. This also allows Mirvac to reconcile costs to the relevant business unit and manage support for those orders.
Software Audit
An audit of the current software, a needs analysis, and a review of other software on the market occurred. A report was delivered with recommendations. Mirvac then selected the software and Virtu took the appropriate actions.
Recycling of Legacy Equipment
Equipment was removed, wiped, and then donated to disadvantaged communities. Mirvac chose not to receive a credit in return for the equipment that was donated.
